11:49 pm - How does this Journal thing work again?
I'm sure nobody is going to read this seeing as I haven't used livejournal in a very very long time.

It's kind of crazy, and a bit sad, but I was going through some of my old post tonight. I'm pretty bored right now and I couldn't help but go back and look. The thing is, I haven't watched any wrestling at all in over a year. Honestly there's a chance I may never watch it again.

It not a situation where I decided the product today sucks and therefore I wanted to quit. I simply just don't care anymore. I do on occasion check the WWE.com TNAWrestling.com to see who's doing what. But that's usually just when I'm bored and have nothing better to do.
hen only
As I sat down and looked through all my old posts, especially the old rants, I couldn't help but feel kind of depressed. I'm not sure which it is or if it's both but I can see two reasons a to why it all saddened me.
1)At one time I had such a deep passion for this show, and now I feel nothing for it. It's sad to think I could have loved something so much for such a long time and so suddenly stop caring.

2) And this one really stands out to me, look at all the time and effort I put into wrestling. All the hours I spent ranting. All the hours I spent reading others opinions. I used to spend 2 hours every Thursday watching Smackdown taking notes. Then I would follow that by typing up a full rant which sometimes took me as long as two hours to do. How sad is it to think I don't even care about it all anymore? To but so much into something for it all to mean nothing just a few years later.

And worse. It feels to me that If I ever did want to go back, it would take so much effort and work to get back to the point I was once at.

I don't know. I just can't believe it's all nothing to me now when it meant so much to me not that long ago.

11:31 pm - Get a Freakin Clue!!!
Todd Walker made a good point on a Sunday night Chicago Fox sports show a few weeks ago when he said, "When a team does good the manager gets way too much of the credit, and when a team does bad the manager gets way too much of the blame." But I think that statement needs some revising when it comes to the 2006 Cubs.

This of course was in regards to the popular subject of Cubs manager Dusty Baker being let go now that the Cubs have lost 18 of their last 22 games.

Everybody's saying it. "Dusty Baker needs to go!" The fans know it, the media knows it, but you know who doesn't? Jim Hendry, the Cubs General Manager. No he doesn't see it at all. With Bakers contract soon to expire Hendry has been making verbal agreements with Baker to extend his time with the Cubs. Some believe the only reason Baker hasn't officially recieved this extention yet is because Hendy is waiting for the Cubs to go on a bit of a winning streak to make the announcment. Which, if is true, is the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever heard.

Is it time for Dusty to leave? I believe so. Like I said, the Cubs are 4-18 in their last 22 games. That's just disgusting. Especially when all Dusty has to say about it is, "we've just had bad luck, that's all". Bad luck? Please.

Now there are the injuries. Pitcher Kerry Wood has been out up until last week. Of course, this guy is always out on injuries, we should be used to it. Hell, he's only pitched two games (which he's lost) and he's already getting pulled from his next start do to soreness. Other pitcher Mark Prior may not make it back at all this season, and if he does, I have trouble believing he'll be at his best.

The most significant injury though is first-baseman Derrek Lee. This man is the backbone of the Cubs and the numbers would agree. Before his injury the Cubs were 2nd in the division and only 1/2 a game behind 1st. Today they're 5th in the division and 12 1/2 games back. Since Lee's injury the Cubs have gone 9-23.

My theory though, is that Lee could be close to 400 if he wanted, but it wouldn't make a difference. With everyone else on the team batting under 300, Lee would be hearing "ball 4" just about everytime he goes at bat. Why allow Lee the chance to put some numbers on the board when you know the man right after him isn't going to do shit?

There is another way to look at it though. Is Lee's absense simply a mental road block for the rest of the team? Everybody's numbers have declined since his injury. And the worse they do, the worse they do. Greg Maddux was 5-0 in April, now in May he's 0-4.

It's all a chain reaction to the "bad luck" Dusty Baker keeps talking about. But the issue isn't whether or not Lee's injuries, or anybody else's injuries for that matter, are hurting the team this bad. The issue is why are the Cubs letting these injuries affect them this bad?

Baker claims to be all about keeping up moral in the Cubs dugout. Yet when the Cubs get swept by one of the worse teams in the league (The MArlins) all I see is DUsty sitting on the bench with a blank face chewing away at those damn tooth picks. Where is the emotion? Where is the spirit? Where is the rage from losing 3 games in a row to the damn Marlins?

Even the ALWAYS calm Maddux is swinging bats at water coolers. Why is Baker just sitting there?

Dusty Baker is full of shit. He's all talk and no play, and it's time for him to go. Unfortunately Jim Hendry doesn't feel the same so we might have to endure Baker for another 2 years since Hendry just signed a 2 year extention for himself.

It shouldn't be this difficult.

3:09 am - Feb. Wrestlemania Fantasy booking
SO I typed this on WOrd on Wednesday than the computer I was using froze and I lost it. I was to angry to retype it so I figured "oh well, no wrestlemania fantasy booking this month." But then, oddly enough, I opended Word three days later and for some reaosn instead of opening a blank document, it opened with Wednesday's work. Never seen that before...

Alright it’s the first of the months which means it’s time for my Fantasy Wrestlemania card. Most of the changes I’m making have nothing to do with storyline changes on the show, but rather my rethinking of things from the last month.

To Start:

United State/Intercontinental Championship Tag-Team Match
Champions: Booker T and Goldust vs. RVD and Rey Mysterio
Ok, so the way I see it, both of these titles should be on the line at Wrestlemania, but there’s just not enough room to fit both in. If you hadn’t already noticed, I made the teams out of former tag-team champions. Booker and Goldust were tag champs on Raw a few years back and RVD and Rey were tag champs last year. I love Rey, but he’s to small to be fighting for the World title. Also, this just makes for a unique match for the big show.

Women’s Championship Match (Last Woman Standing)
Champion: Trish Stratus vs. Mickey James
It was memorizeyrlines that thought up this one and I really liked the idea. We’ve already seen the two face of one-on-one, this adds a twist to the match and can tell a really good story between the two. Also, this would be unique for a womens match.

Interpromotional Match #1
Raw Tag-Team Champions: Big Show and Kane vs. Lashley and Mark Henry
Ok, so this match would suck technically speaking, no doubt. But the fact of the matter is that there is no tag-team competition on Raw and this gives us an interpromotional match. The obvious way to go is that both Henry and Lashley are so big they might be able to stand toe-to-toe with the champs. Also, this might be a smart way to bring the titles to SD! to make an undistputed tag-team on the only show with a tag-division.

Grudge Match
Finley vs. Regal
Come on! Who wouldn’t want this? The Irish man vs. the Brit. Just some great stiff competition.

WWE Tag-Team Championship
Champions: MNM vs. London and Kendrick
This could just be a fun match, and I’d really like to see London and Kendrick get a chance as a tag-team, even if they do wear those lame masks to the ring.

Money in the Bank Match
Edge vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. RVD vs. JBL vs. Orton vs. Matt Hardy
Same as last year, make this a ladder match. The winner gets a shot at the champion on their respective show.

Grudge Match
Carlito vs. Masters
I just think there’s a good build to this one.

Taker Streak Match
Champion J: Undertaker vs. Benoit
I say build this one up with Benoit simply saying “pssh, I could beat Taker.” Then have Taker trying to play mind games but they don’t work on Benoit. If anything, have Benoit laugh at all the smoke and mirrors. People will think Benoit could really do it, and when he doesn’t, no one will think any less of him anyway.

WWE Championship Match
Champion: John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
HBK deserves the title with how well he’s performed since his return. That and he’s the most over face in the entire company. If anyone is going to carry Cena into a classic, Michaels is the man.

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Champion Kurt Angle vs. HHH
I don’t care how they make HHH number one contender, I just want to see this match. The fact that Angle was on Raw for a bit kind of hurt this but harldy. The fact is the two men have been the top names on their respective shows from the beginning and think these two would make for the classic Wrestlemania main-event feel

That’s how I’d like it.

8:35 pm - Fantasy Wrestlemania (Jan. '06)
Happy New Years everyone!

So I said I’d post my fantasy Wrestlemania once a month so it’s time for the January edition…

United States Championship:
Booker T vs. Matt Hardy
Let Booker keep his title until this show and let Hardy be the one to stop him. At this point, this is as good as it will get for Hardy.

Women’s Championship:
Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
They’re already going with this match this week, and I don’t know if they can keep it going, but there’s really no other choice at this point.

Interpromotional match #1:
Shelton Benjamin vs. Rey Mysterio
I still want to see this one and since Benjamin is going heel it works even more. Benjamin’s on a losing streak and frustration will be coming in. So when he’s eliminated out of the Rumble by the little guy, he loses it to start the feud. This would easily be ****+

IC Championship:
Chavo Guerrero vs. Chris Masters
They need to put Masters in the IC realm finally. He’s not ready to be main-eventing like he is all the time.

WWE Tag-Team Championship
MNM vs. Burchill/Regal vs. The Mexicoolz
I guess you could add a fourth team to do the 4-way elimination tag match, but I feel these are the three best tag-teams and don’t need anymore.

Interpromotional Match #2:
HHH vs. JBL
I simply just want to see this one. I feel like there’s a well laid out tension between these two and I feel JBL can really make a face in this match. I see JBL with APA attitude wanting to prove that he’s not a minor leaguer to HHH and HHH not sweating JBL the way he was with Angle back in 2000.

Grudge Match:
RVD vs. Kurt Angle
I hope RVD gets a nice push upon his return and a clean victory over Angle would be huge. Also, making it a #1 contenders match gives it a nice little edge.

#1 Contenders Match:
Big Show vs. Edge
Not much to say here. This would be pretty easy to build and gives both men something to do. I figure they can waste Edge’s title shot easily before WM.

Taker Streak Match:
Undertaker vs. Benoit
Again, gives the men something to and Benoit can easily afford a loss to Taker while also posing as a solid threat to the streak.

WWE Championship:
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
I still feel this is the way to go.

World Championship:
Batista vs. Orton
Although I think they might burn this one up before WM. In that case I have other ideas.

All together I made several changes but left a lot of big ones. I think one problem is that it’s so hard fitting everyone on the card that deserves to be. I will say though, if this were the card for WM this year, I would be attending one phenomenal show.

5:51 pm - It's never too soon!
My fantasy Wrestlemania, (based on current rosters and situations).
I figure I’ll redo this every month or so and see how much it changes going into Wrestlemania. Feel free to do you own.

Opener:
Fatal-4-Way Intercontinental Championship
Chris Master vs. Carlito vs. Gregory Helms vs. Kane
Kane is the only babyface in the match. He’s an IC veteran and fans will probably cheer him on with the odds stacked against him.

Women’s Championship
Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus
If they can keep continue the story line long enough the build for this match would be huge.

Interpromotional Match #1
Shelton Benjamin vs. Rey Mysterio
A respect match that will kick so many kind of ass.

3-Way WWE Tag-Team Championship
MNM vs. Burchill/Regal vs. The Mexicoolz
There’s not enough of a tag-team division to have a RAW tag-team match.

Interpromotional Match #2
HHH vs. JBL
There’s tension here. JBL could easily play the bad-ass face here.

United States Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy
Why not?

#1 Contenders Match For the WWE/World Title
Edge vs. RVD vs. Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit vs. Booker T vs. Undertaker
An excuse to include a lot of these guys somewhere in the card. Three from each show, winner gets a shot at their respective championships.

WWE Championship Match
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels
John Cena turns heel after getting booed all of the time and Michaels kicks his ass.

“Dream Match”
Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
Who knows if this will in fact ever happen. But the rumor has been so high I might as well include it.

World Heavyweight Championship
Batista vs. Randy Orton
Plenty of build and the only choice really left for SmackDown!. Other than this, the only option is Batista vs. Undertaker and there’s issues with that one.

2:20 pm - over-sensitivity
In light of the recent arguing on “Scott’s Blog of Doom” I’ve decided to make a point about over-sensitivity online wrestling fans tend to have.

It’s fine to bitch. I do it plenty. That’s all part of the fun when we log on to the Internet and get to chat away about wrestling. We talk about the good, the bad, and the unbearable. But when it comes to controversial events in wrestling, I feel some of us get too upset.

Most recently I’ve heard people complain about Randy Orton crashing the late Eddie Guerrero’s car with Undertaker hanging in the back. People have also complained about the whole match leading up to it, which was dedicated to Eddie Guerrero and ended in a no-contest. Many found all of it to be exploitive and disrespectful. I more or less simply saw it as unnecessary.

That’s right. Unnecessary. Was it necessary to spend a whole show reminding us that the main-event was in the memory of Eddie Guerrero, only to have the match end in a no-contest? No. Was it necessary to have Rey scream out Eddie’s name in the middle of the match when everything was only leading up to advance a storyline for two completely separate men? No.
But was it all disrespectful? The answer is this; it’s not my place to say. I didn’t know Eddie personally, and neither did most of the people complaining. I don’t know if he would have been upset by the actions on the Smackdown! special.
But what I do know is that it was unnecessary. Does that make me annoyed, maybe a little, if only for the fact that I think the show lacked because of it. Does it make me angry? Not at all. If I got angry over every little thing that has gone down in this business I probably wouldn’t even watch it anymore, especially the WWE.

In a few words, get over it.

11:15 am - Finishers
Who's finishers are the most protected right now?

-I think both Batista and Cena's are maybe the strongest as of now.
-The pedigree usually does the trick, but I've seen them kick out of it here and there. Most recently Batista did it.
-Booker T's scissor kick always seems to get the job done, altho ugh it doesn't seem to be a feared one.
-Sweet Chin Music, as far as I can think of always works except for the big matches, which is similar to the pedigree.
-The Angle (Olympic) slam has become teh weakest finisher today. It's a damn shame too since I really love that move. I wonder if there's anyway to make ot strong again. Otherwise, the ankle lock has been getting the job done, especially with the heel hook.
-The tombstone piledriver obviously.
-The RKO, to this point, I think has always won. Did Taker ever kick-out to it?

That's all I can think of right now. Before he left to TNA, Christian's "unprettier" was always a sure thing. Of course he almost never got to hit. I'm sure in TNA it will go far.

7:58 am - Wrestlemania Main-event
In 2001, the Wrestlemania main-event saw the ever-so-popular Rock going one-on-one with equally popular Steve Austin. This is one of the more memorable Wrestlemania main-events along side with Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant. Why so memorable? Because the Rock’s stock grew big time when Stone Cold left for his neck injury. Rock became as popular as he would ever be, having no other competition even touching his fan base. But when Steve Austin came back from his time off, Rock suddenly had a match. Before he left, Austin was the crowd favorite, Rock trailing slightly behind. Now that Rock had stepped up, it seemed almost like a tie. The two shared common popularity and it seemed inevitable for the two meet and the biggest show of the year.

The build up alone made the match a classic splitting the crowd into two, not sure of which they want to win more. The end result was a match that will go down as one of the most memorable Wrestlemania matches ever. Just like the immortal Hulk Hogan going one-on-one with the “Eighth Wonder of the World” Andre the Giant. It was a match so built up that it was bound for greatness.

Today, it seems like Wrestlemania is not so much the venue to the grand match, but rather the breeding ground for the “new hero”. This past year we saw both John Cena and Batista win their first World titles in the Raw and SmackDown! main-events. But were they memorable? I wouldn’t say so, in comparison to matches like Rock/Stone Cold. In fact, I feel the more memorable match of the night was the meeting of Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels, two greats stepping in the ring together for the first time ever. That match had more of the elements of a Wrestlemania classic than the main-events did.

So for Wrestlemania 22 (which I will be in attendance for!), lets not make the main-event about elevating newer talent, or creating stars. I want to see that one match. The one we’ve all been waiting for, the one that will go down in history as a Wrestlemania classic. I want to see the match that has been so built up that nothing could knock it down.

I want to see Kurt Angle vs. HHH.

While Stone Cold and The Rock where tearing things up, HHH stood right on their heels, with Kurt Angle close behind. The two men where numbers 3 and 4, both former WWE Champions, waiting for their chances.
When RAW and SmackDown! split into two separate shows, the plan was to have Stone Cold be the man on RAW and The Rock be the man on SmackDown!. But when Austin left the company and Rock moved out to Hollywood, two new men were needed, and there was HHH’s and Angle’s opportunity.

HHH took over Raw and became the dominant champion for almost it’s entire run as a separate show. Angle became the top guy on SmackDown! either as champion or as the man the champion’s needed to beat in order to be great.

Now today, as a result of the lottery drafts, Angle is on RAW. Instantly the man claimed his position targeting the WWE champion John Cena, hoping to reclaim his belt at Survivor Series. How will HHH feel if Angle were champion?

Angle, the guy HHH always looked down on when he was number 3 and Angle was number 4. Angle the guy HHH has been able to avoid being on separate shows. These to are just waiting to clash and I think the venue should be Wrestlemania.

It would be a classic. Oh it’s true.

9:04 pm - Expect More of These...
I just read that Chritian just got the names Christian Cage (his pre-WWE name) and Captain Charisma trademarked which means I we don't have to start using some new lame name for him.

I also just read that Batista just tore a muscle and has the options of rehabbing it or have surgery which would keep him out of action until the Royal Rumble. If he chooses that latter, that would mean he's losing the belt to someone. I think it would be the way to go, he gets to heal up in a better way and gives us a new champion for a little while. Hell, Royal Rumbles a good time to come back a setup his return to the title.

Angle gets another shot at Cena. I swear to god if he doesn't win I may give up on RAW. I say this as a loyal Angle fan who would rather have Angle be champion every day for the rest of his career, than have any variety. I'm not going to kid myself, I'm no where near giving up on the product, no matter how much it sucks these days, but the thought of Angle regaining the gold has made the show exciting enough for me to go out of my way to continue to watch.
Also, I'm tired of Cena. He's proven he's over, but I don't think he deserves to have this long of a run. Think of some of the biggest names of the Monday Night Wars era and consider how rarely they'd get that long of a Championship reign.

I'm not up on reviewing right now. But I plan on posting thoughts like these frequently now. It's nice being able to not wait for a thread to say some of this or have a certain subject matter to stick with. Hell, if any of you want to start up a thread, e-mail me at WrestlePost@yahoo.com and I'll post your comments on a fresh thread to discuss.

Should I rant on iMPACT?
Does anyone still visit this website?

Does anyone know a cheap and easy way to put a tv show online? I have one possibly in the works.

12:35 am - SmackDown! 8/11/05
Welcome to the return of Douglasb’s SmackDown! reviews! It feels like it’s been much longer than three months since I last wrote one of these but I guess it hasn’t really been that long. I’m looking forward to doing these every week again so keep coming back. I might be a little rusty but here we go!

Opener match:
Booker T vs. Joey Mercury
After Nitro goes for early interference, Nick Patrick decides to throw him out of ringside along with “Jillian” who was interfering on the apron. Towards the end of the match Melina interferes so Sharmell goes on the attack. Booker hits Mercury with the scissors kick to win the match. ¾*

The Peep Show:
I’m starting to think these “talk shows” are created for the guys in WWE that can actually cut a good promos but the WWE is scared to use properly.
Christian’s guest this week is Dave Batista.
Christian gets right to telling Batista why he asked him to be on the show. Christian feels that he is the greatest draft pick to ever happen for SmackDown! and can’t believe he’s not even on the card for SummerSlam. So what he wants to do is prove himself by beating Batista tonight. Batista asks if the people really want to see him kick Christian’s ass AGAIN, which gets a loud reaction from the crowd. He asks again and the crowd gives another loud response. Batista tells Christian, “I guess it’s settled, tonight, you’re going to get your ass kicked…AGAIN!”

Tag-Team Championship Match:
LOD version 2.0 vs. ANOTHER random tag-team:
Heidenreich and Animal are officially being called LOD, which is stupid in my opinion.
MNM watches on backstage as “LOD” pick up a win using the Dooms Day Device. ¼*

Backstage:
Rey and family enter the building and are followed with a video packed recapping the Dominic feud.

Backstage:
Randy Orton meets up with Theodore Long (who just got off the phone with Fat Joe!) and claims that as the future of the WWE he deserves better and should get to know who his opponent for his return match tonight is going to be. Long says that since Orton likes making surprise appearances he’s got a surprise also… he’s not going to tell! (That’s a pretty lame surprise). Long tells Orton his opponent is a legend and former opponent to Undertaker. Their match is next.

Randy Orton vs….. Kamala!
If I hadn’t read the spoilers already I assure you I would have been disappointed.
Orton hits the RKO on Kamala but the lights go out and Taker’s RKO-to-RIP video plays on the titontron. Orton looks terrified and there’s no end to the match.

Backstage:
Eddie meets with a woman from child services who claims she’s there only to observe their situation to determine what’s best for Dominic. Eddie Protests that he’s the best thing for Dominic because of all the lies Rey and his wife have told him. He then proceeds to take her out to the ring.

Eddie brings the social services lady out to the ring and starts us off by saying chapter three needs no explanation. He tells us the social worker is there to serve to the best interests of Dominic and to bring him home to his “papi”, a home full of love, compassion, and most importantly, honesty and truth. Eddie calls for Rey and his family to come out and we start a long segment that I will have to bullet point.
-Eddie opens his arms for Dominic to come over but Dominic turns to his mom and hugs her.
-Eddie tells Rey he never loses, and then tells the social worker to do her job and give him Dominic.
-The social worker just stares at Eddie so he yells at her, “NOW!”
-Rey speaks up and says that nobody wins if Eddie takes Dominic especially Dominic himself.
-Rey tells Eddie he’s proud of how he’s beaten drugs, the odds, the streets, and his past to become the WWE Champion. He says he’s proud that Eddie has been able to beat all of his obstacles, but that he could never beat Rey Mysterio.
-Eddie continues to tell Rey he’s won but Rey keeps getting under his skin telling him that he’s never been able to beat him and never will.
-Rey tells Eddie that if he takes Dominic he’ll never get another shot at him again. He then offers him a match at SummerSlam for Dominic’s custody.
-Eddie accepts but tells Rey that Dominic will be going home with him tonight.
-The social worker interrupts to tell Eddie and Rey they’re both crazy and that she’s going to take Dominic away to foster care until they settle their problem.
-Rey and his wife break down crying and Eddie tells Dominic to say goodbye to his uncle Rey and aunt Angie.

Super Crazy and Psicosis vs. William Regal and Scotty 2 Lucky to Still Have a Job.
The Mexicools beat up on Scotty for a while until he finally gets a chance to tag in Regal who chooses to leave him on his own and walks away. Scotty tries to fight on his own but it’s pointless and he loses to a top-rope leg drop from Psicosis. *

Backstage:
Rey and his wife cry together.

Backstage:
Here they interview “Jillian” the girl with the crap on her face. I refuse to review any interview of hers so I’ll just say it was to announce next week’s mixed-tag-match that will go down between Mercury and Melina vs. Booker T and Sharmell.

They replay us Cena’s new video, which sucks.

Chris Benoit vs. Simon “Nova Who?” Dean:
Simon gets Benoit pist by calling him the flabby wolverine to start thing off. Benoit whips him around and beats him with the crossface. ¾*

Main-Event:
Christian vs. Batista:
I thought the match was decent but it didn’t last very long before JBL came in for the DQ. *1/2
JBL continues his assault with a chair to close out the show.

End Show.

Final Thought:
I think this is the most wrestling I’ve seen on a SmackDown! in a long time but unfortunately it all sucked. It’s like they want to take every talented wrestler and put him in a match with a shitty wrestler and only give them five minutes to work with.
MNM seems to be in the exact same place they were in when I stopped reviewing, so kudos to SmackDown! for really building up the tag-division.
Chris Benoit needs to be main-eventing. That’s what I thought the whole point of him moving was for. Not for him to be facing guys like Orlando Jordan and Simon Dean.
Little fantasy booking here…
-Christian faces Batista tonight and pulls off an amazing victory, maybe by rolling up Batista while he’s distracted by JBL up the ramp.
-Batista beats JBL at SummerSlam.
-Christian comes out the following Thursday and demands a World title shot since he beat the champ clean in the middle of the ring.
-We have our next World title feud.
Fantasy is the key word in fantasy booking, but I think that would be the way to go.

Well, that’s it. I hope this didn’t fully suck. I need to get back into the grove over the next few weeks so bare with me. Thanks for reading and come back next week!

8:05 pm - The Legend Killer Tour
First off, as far as me recapping a show again, I still plan on doing it. My problem is that I don't want to do RAW since Scott already does it, and SmackDown! has been so god-awful lately it's hard to get myself to doing it. I'll try my best to either do this weeks SmackDown! (which from the spoilers looks to be really bad) or next weeks. Sorry it's taking so long, but hey, if the response is good I may go back to doing these weekly!

Now to my main thing...

I started talking about Orton's IC title reign to Supertaker on the "blog of doom" and realized how much I enjoyed Orton from late 2003 to late 2004. (I still like him, but that particular period was really interesting to me.).

What I want to do is right something on the period of time, a short bio if you will. What I need though, is to get a list of all of Orton's IC matches including the RAW where he beat RVD to win the title. I also need his PPV results from all of 2003 and anything before that would be nice. Lastly, I need to know the date of the battle royal he won to get a shot for the World title, and the results of any PPV he'd been in from there (any significant RAW wins, like his singles win on HHH before New Years Revolution, would be great also.)

I want to do some research, remind myself of what went down. I'll be looking to download some matches too.

Any help would be awesome.

9:42 pm - Missing The Writing
So if any of you are missing my writing check back in the next few weeks as I'm planning on reviewing a RAW or SmackDown!, maybe both.

This isn't something I'm going back to doing weekly, I just miss doing it and want to try it again for fun. I'll be sure to plug it on Scott's Blog ;)

10:30 pm - HHH
Is i possible that after losing THREE matches in a row to Batista, HHH might actually step away from the main-event?
Or is Cena next on his list?

On the one hand, this IS HHH were talking about here so logic says Cena is next.
On the other hand, Angle has intentions of getting championship in the next year and Edge is "MOney in the Bank". Plus, losing three World title matches in a row isn't really something that's going to help out in getting a title shot.

So the question is, what is to become of HHH, or better yet, RAW?

10:11 pm - EC F'n W!
OK, so I'm new to ECW. I never cought it when it was around. All my knowlege for ECW pretty much exists from the WWE DVD. That said, ECW "One Night Stand" was maybe the most entertaining PPV I"ve seen in a very very...VERY long time. No matter how much I want to see a PPV I haven't been as glued to the screen as much I was tonight.
The whole "RAW and SMackDown! invasion" thing didn't hurt it like I thought it would. Instead, it made the show better giving the ECW guys a chance to say "Fuck You" directly to WWE. Especially Paul E. and RVD for the best shoot comments that NEEDED to be said.

Oh the shoot commments! What I loved about them was that they were said on WWE tv, and all the right things were said. Matt Hardy was finally said (not that I'm upset by the situation, but I'm happy it's been said), RVD got his say to the larger audience, and Bischoff got his.

But the thing that made me happiest was Paul E.'s comment about HHH. It's about god damn time it's been said and thank you so much Paul E. for finally saying it. I hope he made money on this show because I'm sure he ain't working for Vince any time soon.

8:48 pm - It's Been Fun...
Hey everybody,
Just letting you all know that after only 2 weeks of gettting my reviews posted on Scott's blog, I have to retire. It's not that I didn't want to do them any more, in fact the spot on Scott's blog made it much more exciting to do.
It's all because of a new job I got that takes away A LOT of my time and I just don't have any for the reviews. Hell, I'm lucky if I can even catch the show which I taped and have yet to have seen. If it means anything, I e-mailed Scott letting him know that I couldn't do them any more and suggested to him that he at least posts results to SmackDown! so there's at least a thread to discuss the show in. I don't know if he'll take the advice, but I tried.
I don't know how much of me you'll hear from in the next few months, both here and on Scott's Blog.

But...
I do want to say if the opporunity ever returns to recap the show for all of you I WILL definately do it.

Have a good summer everyone!
TTYL

10:43 am - SmackDown! 5/26/05
This is posted on Scotts blog like it will be every week. Any comments should be posted there where the real convrsation is.

Ok, on with SmackDown!

We open up with Carlito’s Cabaña. Along with Carlito is his new body guard Matt Mo-o-ogan. Carlito does some bragging over his big win over Big Show last Sunday and proceeds to introduce his guest for this week. He claims his guest was the man that made the biggest impact on Sunday; the man who earned the respect of the fans and the boys backstage. This man of course… is Carlito! Carlito asks himself how he was able to take on the Big Show all by himself, and answers that he couldn’t do it with out the support of his new friend, Matt Morgan. They show us a video clip from Judgment Day when Morgan F5’d Show. Carlito is so proud he declares that with Morgan he can take on Big Show any day any time.
Out comes Theodore Long. Long tells Carlito that it was his stuttering friend that won the match on Sunday which gets Morgan all hot. Long lets Carlito know that if Morgan attacks him he will be, “s-s-s-s-s-s-suspended!” (Is it OK that a boss made fun of his employees’ disability?). Long goes on to say that in two weeks the lottery draft will begin and that next week will be the last SmackDown! for someone on the roster. This of course, gives Long the idea to hold a “Winner’s Choice” battle royal where the winner gets to choose any opponent they want to challenge for next week’s SmackDown!.
Carlito feels this is cool and wants in. Long is happy he wants in but lets him know that he had another match lined up for Carlito for tonight. Since he claimed he could beat him any day of the year, Long has set a match for Carlito to face Big Show. Carlito is not happy with this.

Backstage: Josh Mathews asks Rey Mysterio if he will be able to compete tonight after the beat-down he took from Eddie after their match on Sunday. Rey says Eddie made the mistake of not killing him because he will get his revenge. Rey’s plans are to win the battle royal and use his win to get a match with Eddie.

Tag-Team Championship: MNM vs. The Haas’n’Holly Connection:
MNM decided to come out to the ring tonight with the belts hanging from their pants swinging between their legs, I don’t know why I felt like that warranted mentioning. Basically the dynamic of Haas’n’Holly is to let Holly get the early and late aggressiveness in and let Haas work most of the match taking the long beat down with the “miracle” comeback. It worked all right tonight. After Haas gets the hot tag to Holly, Holly cleans house but accidentally knocks the ref out. Holly hits the Alabama slam on Mercury but doesn’t get the pin with the knocked out ref. Nitro grabs a chair and hits Holly right in the head. The ref saw that one and called for the DQ. **
After the match Haas chases MNM away with the chair. There will most likely be a rematch.

Backstage: Booker T and Sharmell are being interviewed. They take a look back at Sunday when Booker handcuffed Angle to the rope and the two of them beat on him. Booker and his wife do some playful talking with each other about Sharmell attacking Angle, then Sharmell tells us that Booker will win the battle royal and go on to face Cena and win the WWE championship.

Out come John Cena to the ring with a pretty large ovation waiting for him. Cena lets the fans know that his belt is for them. He says that before Sunday there was a lot of talk about him being a one-hit-wonder but it only took two words to change all of that. He says JBL was right about a lot; he had the toughest match of his life, he bled, and he suffered. BUT, the one thing JBL had wrong was that it was Cena who walked away champ. After rubbing in the fact that JBL said “I quit” a little bit Cena says he has something for him.
JBL’s music hits and he comes out to the ring. JBL says that he doesn’t make excuses and that’s why he’s been so successful. He admits that Cena was the better man Sunday night. He says that he has been able to beat everybody except for Cena and isn’t sure if he can. JBL gives Cena credit for being on a roll between the belt, the cd, and the upcoming movie. JBL says that Cena is “the man”… for now. All that said, JBL believes Cena will eventually burn himself out. He believes that in about six months or a year, Cena will come crashing down, and it will be JBL there to pick up the pieces. He starts to go off about his legacy once again but Cena stops him.
Cena tells JBL that he doesn’t get to decide his own legacy; that it’s the fans that do. Cena says he lives every day like there’s no tomorrow and that if he does in fact go down, he will go down in a blaze of glory. Cena reminds JBL that he had something for him but says never mind and starts to walk away. JBL says he wants to see it, but Cena insists on not showing it. JBL pleads with Cena a little more and Cena gives in. Cena plays a video and it starts off looking like a tribute video to JBL’s title reign. After about three seconds the video cuts to JBL saying “I Quit!” replaying over and over again. Cena then congratulates JBL on his legacy of being the most celebrated quitter in history.

Big Show vs. Carlito:
The first match sucked and this one wasn’t any better. Morgan tries to help Carlito but ends up getting kicked out from ringside. Carlito decides to leave with his good buddy but the ref forces him to go back to the match. Show tosses him around but Carlito makes a short and quick attempt to fight back. Show proves to be too much for Carlito and gives him a chokeslam for the win. ¼* Morgan comes back down to the ring and attacks Big Show. He gets him outside of the ring and F5s him through the announcer’s table.

Angle Invite:
Angle gets on the mic and tells us that this is a dark time for our Olympic Hero. Not only did he lose to an inferior man on Sunday, but he also was humiliated by a gutter slut. On top of all that, he’s pissed at Vince for throwing his money away on “that ECW garbage”. He talks about how he went to an ECW show after he won the Olympics (story from his autobiography) and was so disgusted with what he saw he left and refused to ever come back. Like Bischof is planning over on RAW, Angle says he’s going to the ECW PPV to lead a SmackDown! crusade on ECW. Angle then looks over to Tazz and tells him he’s “going to bounce your ECW friends around like Paul Heyman bounces checks.” Tazz takes off his head set and stares at Angle.
Back to the hometown hero, Angle warns him that he’s pissed off tonight and that he will hurt him real bad.
Kurt Angle vs. HTH:
Angle kicks his ass for a minute or so and makes him tap with the ankle lock. DUD
Back on the mic Angle says, “Now that was fun! Now that I’m warmed up, start the battle royal!”

Winners Choice Battle Royal:
Here are the things to know about the match:
-Eddie Guerrero attacks Rey Mysterio with a chair before the match starts and Rey is carried to the back.
-Early in the match Eddie gets out of the ring through the second rope and watches from ringside.
-Eddie makes his return to the match after half of the wrestlers have already been eliminated.
-Rey makes his comeback going right on the attack to Eddie. He knocks Eddie out of the match and continues the attack outside of the ring. He is still in the match.
-Final 6: Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, BookerT, and JBL’s Cabinet.
-After being triple teamed for a while, Booker T eliminates each member of the Cabinet one-by-one.
-Just as soon as Booker knocks all three of them out, Angle instantly throws Booker out with them.
-Final two, Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio.
-Angle and Rey do a whole series of close calls, many that had me jump. Rey hits the 619 on Angle and goes for the West Coast Pop but gets low blowed in mid-air. Angle picks Rey up and (Olympic) slams him out of the ring for the win. I also don’t rate battle royals, but I will say the Angle/Mysterio ending would put it over *** for me personally.

With the win Angle lets us know who he wants to face next week. He says there’s something he once had that he wants back. It’s something he’s obsessed with. So he lets John Cena know that next week…he will get the night off because it will be Kurt Angle vs. Booker T….’s Wife!

End Show.

Final Thought:
I figured Angle and Booker T still had more feuding to do, but this whole Sharmell thing ruins everything. Whenever you get a top wrestler facing an announcer or female, you know something lame and unexciting is going to happen, I’m pissed off.
I don’t like Holly, but I like Haas and I’m happy to see he’s at least getting used right now. I think if done right, Haas can make the Haas’n’Holly team pretty decent.
RAW vs. ECW. SmackDown! vs. ECW. Who would have guessed that Vince was going to add WWE to the “ECW only” PPV? I would think the way to go about it is to have the separate PPV, see how it does, THEN do some kind of invasion angle. No point in trying it with out knowing what kind of money ECW alone can make.
I may lose a lot of people here, but I have to admit there’s something about Matt Morgan that I like. We haven’t seen a lot of him, and the stuttering gimmick sucks, but he might be something decent. In all his squash matches in recent weeks he seemed to show some decent variety in his move set. I think there’s potential there, for a big guy at least.

OK, that’s all I have to say for this week. So go ahead and converse!

6:10 pm - Last Weeks Devil's Advocate
(Little note: I wrote this weeks Devil's Advocate and absolutely hated it. I'm probably just going to post here anyway, but I want to make some revisions or something. I just sucks. I need ideas people! I would perfer that these topics are on recent things, (Not Matt, Edge, and Lita though because that topic is tired). Any ideas??????)

Devils Advocate: The Lottery Draft

This week I’m here to argue that the draft is NOT the way to go. No I’m not talking about Bush sending my ass over to Iraq, I’m talking about RAW superstars and SmackDown! superstars being traded to the other shows. It’s quite simple, the draft only makes things a mess and everything is all screwed up.

Lets start with value. The beauty of separating SmackDown! and RAW wasn’t to push more talent, it was to create competition within a single company. That statement does sound pretty dumb at first, but it all makes sense around the time of Wrestlemania.

Any time two major wrestling promotions have competed with each other wrestling fans have always fantasized the possibilities of wrestlers from one company facing off with wrestlers from the other. Obviously, these matches didn’t commonly happen because promoters would never allow it, or egos wouldn’t let the two wrestlers get near each other. Here in lies the greatness of the separated shows. With SmackDown! and RAW being competition under the same umbrella, fantasy matches CAN in fact happen. Just this year at Wrestlemania people got to see two matches involving a RAW star vs. a SmackDown! star. The results ended up being two of the most hyped up and exciting matches of the whole card. Some people even wished the championship matches were moved down the card so these “interpromotional” matches could be saved for the main-event.
On paper it doesn’t sound too exciting. Two guys in the same company facing each other is to be expected. But because RAW superstars and SmackDown! superstars are kept away from each other, something special is created when these stars meet.
This special feeling WILL be killed as a result of the draft. Take note to the two matches that took place at Wrestlemania. Randy Orton vs. Undertaker and Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle. Nobody from either pairs was ever on the same show at once, the only exception being Orton who was on SmackDown! with Undertaker for a short period before he was ever anything important.
If this draft continues, these “dream matches” will no longer exist. If superstars are constantly switching shows, everybody’s going to have shared the same stage at some point or another. Or, at the very least, people will only assume they’ll be put together in one of the next drafts. This beauty I speak of is the fact that in a match such as Angle vs. Michaels, we are left to believe that they may have never had another chance to meet again. For one night, and one night only, THE Shawn Michaels was going to face THE Kurt Angle and THAT was something special. Now if this supposed annual draft continues, the idea of the match being one time only vanishes in the air. For all we know Shawn Michaels could end up on the same show as Kurt Angle and everything that made Wrestlemania special will be just another expectation.

As bad as all that is, there’s more. The draft does nothing but ruin the quality of the product. Just last year, right before the draft, SmackDown! lost two of its biggest stars, Chris Benoit and Brock Lesner. SmackDown! still had a few top stars left, Kurt Angle, the new WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero, the part timer Undertaker, Edge, Big Show, but not many. After the draft, SmackDown! lost one of their top stars Edge, who’s absence of over a year was only to ensure that a huge pop was coming on his back. Of course, because of the draft, Edge was ripped away from SmackDown! leaving them with even less of a main-event lineup (and leading to Matt Hardy’s termination from the company, which is a whole other story!). So now with only Eddie Guerrero, Kurt Angle, the part timer Undertaker, and the Big Giant nobody cares about half the time, SmackDown! was in desperate need of somebody to help legitimatize the main-event, especially with a fresh new champion in need of proving himself. So who does RAW give? Booker T. Yes that’s right Booker T, the 5-time WCW champion who came to RAW and became nothing more than an Intercontinental championship contender. Oh, and they got RVD the guy who only got a gasp of main-event air before HHH punched him so hard in the stomach the wind escaped him like a Shawshank prisoner.
Although this was a great opportunity for the two men, Booker T and RVD were not the guys to help SmackDown! look like the stronger show.
Meanwhile, RAW starts off the “WWE New Year” with quite an amazing lineup. New World Champion Chris Benoit, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Kane, Chris Jericho, the ever rising star Randy Orton, and of course, their new acquisition, Edge. They also had Ric Flair when they wanted too by the way. So RAW is given the world just one year ago while SmackDown! is left out in the cold. Here’s the kicker though. After an entire year, SmackDown! is almost at the same level as RAW! It’s easy to point fingers at who’s fault all this is but that’s not what I’m arguing here.

Let’s look back at some of those names I just mentioned for RAW. Kane, here’s a guy who got a quick shot at the title to make Benoit look “4 Real!” then went into a mid-card story line were he practically raped a “Diva” and forced her into marriage. Oh, he got her pregnant too, but worry not, it was a miscarriage! OK, how about, Jericho. A guy who’s consistently been over with the audience and a great wrestler. The whole world has accepted him as a main-eventer despite his size. Yet, RAW never once used him in the main-event throughout the entire year, and even much longer than that. How about that newly crowned World Champion Chris Benoit? Well, after losing the title he shot down right back into the mid-card. He hasn’t been completely buried and can still be put in the main-event any day now, but last we saw he was facing Tajiri in an “ECW Rules” match, not quite the main-event, huh?
Randy Orton, “the ever rising star” was in fact pushed up and made the youngest World Champion ever. Of course from there not much else happened other than a very unsuccessful face push. Since Orton’s face push didn’t quite work out, he was tossed away for the next potential victim, Batista. Currently the World Champion, Batista can make some good money for the company, of course, as RAW history has shown, one strike and he’s out, so I hope he doesn’t screw up somewhere.
On the SmackDown! side of things new stars have made their way up due to the lack of main-eventers. John “Bradshaw” Layfield formerly a mid-card jobber know as “Bradshaw”, completely changed his way and became, not only the longest running WWE champion in over 10 years, but one of WWE’s most hated heels. On the other side of the spectrum, the young wrestler, John Cena, rapped his way into amazing popularity and has become WWE’s #1 babyface, especially after beating JBL for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania.
This is a common trend for SmackDown!. New stars constantly rising and old ones still looking strong. Whereas RAW makes stars for just a little while before forgetting about them like one-hit-wonders. The way to truly put it is, “SmackDown! makes ‘em, RAW takes ‘em, and then they break ‘em.”

So what does this have to do with the draft? It’s very simple. SmackDown! is constantly shit on but makes the best of what they’ve got, and after a whole year of recuperation time, SmackDown! is finally hitting it’s stride. RAW on the other hand was given everything and wasted it. SmackDown! is like a poor child who would take a box and make it into a rocket ship, whereas RAW is the rich kid that has every amazing toy you can think of and gets a new one whenever they decide to break one of the old ones. Vince needs to let SmackDown! hang on to what they’ve made and let them run with it. As for RAW, Vince needs to force them to fix those broken toys and be happy with the fact that they have more than they deserve. RAW needs nothing to be shaken up. They still have Batista, HHH, Benoit, Orton, Edge, Jericho, and maybe, if they choose to use him, Christian. SmackDown! has Cena, JBL, Angle, Guerrero, Booker T (box into rocket), and plenty more to work with.

The draft is a virus that will take a whole year of work and mess it all up. If RAW is hurting, it’s their own fault and they need to fix it. SmackDown! needs to be left alone right now because they have a good thing going and any movement can shift all their momentum in the wrong direction.

Stop the draft, before it’s too late!

(The opinions expressed in this article are not necessarily the opinions of Douglasb. Devils Advocate is all for the sake of argument and nothing more.)

10:19 am - Ideas?
Hey everybody. So I feel a lot of pressure on me for the next Devil's Advocate since the first one got such a good response. I want to write it sometime tonight or tommorrow but I really am not sure what I want to write about.
-Cruiserweights vs. "Big Guys" - My best one right now but I don't think this will be as good as last weeks.

-Benoit=bad - This one is complicated when you get donw to it, and I think I'll save this for when I have more experience.

-HHH=good - This one is in some ways too easy. (As weird as that sounds)

That's all I've got right now. I'm begging for some Ideas right now!
